Abstract
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a disease caused by a decrease or cessation of blood delivery to the heart muscle as a result of pathological changes in the arteries of the heart. Coronary heart disease occurs as a result of organic (irreversible) and functional (transient) changes. The main cause of organic damage is atherosclerosis of the arteries of the heart. Functional changes include arterial spasm and blood clots.
