Measuring the Impact of Climate Change on wheat Production in Iraq for the Period (1990- 2021)

Abstract

This research aims to study the impact of climate change on wheat production in Iraq during the period from 1990 to 2021. The results showed that climate change, such as high temperatures and low rainfall, contributed to a decrease in productivity. A direct relationship was found between rainfall and temperature with production, while wind speed and carbon emissions showed an inverse relationship with production. The stability of the model was confirmed using the cointegration test, and the results showed that climate factors explain 96% of the changes in wheat production. The research recommends developing policies to adapt to climate change, such as improving water management, developing drought-resistant wheat varieties, and training farmers in sustainable agricultural techniques
