Abstract

Given its great sensitivity to the effects of climate change, India calls for proactive responses from both public and non-governmental sectors to handle climate adaptation and mitigating issues. Emerging as a key framework for companies helping to contribute to the climate resilience initiatives of the nation is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Using focused actions, Indian companies have been significantly helping to promote environmental sustainability and strengthen community resilience against climate change effects. This study examines how Indian companies may use CSR projects to support community adaptation and mitigating efforts. According to the CSR reports of leading firms, they have achieved significant advancements in renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, disaster resilience, and water conservation. Companies along with Tata Power and Adani Green Power have made substantial investments in renewable electricity, consequently decreasing CO₂ emissions and supporting nearby areas. ITC and Mahindra & Mahindra have saved water and raised crop yields using -clever farming techniques. Agencies like Reliance Industries and Larsen & Toubro have improved readiness and response systems via catastrophe resilience projects, assisting underprivileged corporations in places at risk of screw-ups. Businesses like ITC and Tata Chemicals also save millions of liters of water yearly, enabling communities to manage their limited resources better. CSR projects show their capacity to impact sustainable development and climate resilience favorably. Scaling and achieving these initiatives and guaranteeing their long-term influence still provides difficulties; however, maximizing the success of these projects depends on strengthening regulatory systems, increasing openness, and matching business activities with national climate targets. Ultimately, CSR may be important in creating a future India resistant to climate change.
