Phytoremediation perspectives of five aquatic macrophytes for heavy metals removal from polluted pond in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu
Main Article Content
Abstract
The current study stated the heavy metals accumulation potentials of five aquatic macrophytes (Eichhornia crassipes, Pistia stratiotes, Lemna minor, Azolla pinnata and Hydrilla verticillata) and pollution status of North Thamaraikulam pond in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. Concentration of five metals (Pb, Cr, Cd, Ni & As) were determined in the water and aboveground and belowground tissues of the selected macrophytes. Bioconcentration Factor (BCF) and Translocation Factor (TF) were calculated for each species.
