Abstract

In The Nightingale, Kristin Hannah portrays the struggles and experiences faced by women during World War II through a compelling story of courage, endurance, and self-sacrifice. Through the lives of two sisters, Vianne Mauriac and Isabelle Rossignol, the novel presents the varied responsibilities and hardships experienced by women in wartime France. This paper examines the way Hannah restores significance to women whose voices and identities were often neglected in history, with particular attention to themes such as identity, suffering, and memory.
