A Study of Gastric Cancer caused by the prevailing habits of the citizens

Abstract

The anatomic distribution of cancers varies very considerably from country to country. Globally speaking stomach cancer ranks second in males and fourth in females. However, stomach cancer ranks second (10% of new cancer cases) next to lung cancer (12% of new cancer cases) regardless of sex (Parkin et al. 1993). A review of the incidence rates of stomach cancer in the 24 areas described by Parkin et al. (1993) provides a noteworthy observation. Most of the people in Japan, China, and USSR have the highest rates while those in India, Northern America, and Western Africa have the lowest rates suggesting the obvious heterogeneity in the types of people who have high and low rates of gastric cancer.
